How to get the best out of your online Pilates class?

The pandemic seen more people switch to online classrooms for all sorts of learning and exercise. Now that things are returning to some sort of normal it is lovely to get back face to face, but there is still an element of doing an online class that I really enjoy.


Being entirely honest I don't see an online class as any different to being in person. We can still get that chat and interaction, do our exercise and feel great. With the added benefits that we don't need to travel, especially in winter we can stay at home and be cosy, fall into our bed after an evening class, go for a lovely walk after a morning class or sit in the garden if its summer.


This week I have had to isolate with my daughter so all in person classes have had to be cancelled but I still managed to teach and participate in a few online classes, another perk of online working. So what can you do to get the best out of your on line class.


Plan your time


Just like you would if you were going to an in person class, make time in your diary to do the class online or on catch up. It is important to plan your exercise schedule just like you would any other task or else your motivation will drop and it will get pushed to the side.


Create your space

  1. Declutter your space. I find I cant relax in a space which is cluttered.

  2. Make sure your space is well lit and cosy.

  3. Make sure you have A drink to hand.

  4. I love plants, that is something you may want to add to your work space.

  5. Make sure you have a comfortable exercise mat and any other equipment that may be useful such as yoga blocks, therabands, soft balls etc ....

Find a class that is suitable for you


There are many online classes out there so make sure you do your research and find a class and teacher that works for you. I have a few online options, I have a beginners class on a Monday morning at 10am or I have my online Membership Pragramme where a new programme is made available for you on the 1st of every month with a zoom class on a Friday evening. The good news about my online options is that even if you cant make the class, you can tune into the replay anytime that suits you.
